METROLOGY
Evaluation & Calibration
To enhance your machines overall performance, IMS offers metrology evaluation and calibration services.  IMS personnel utilize state-of-the-art NIST traceable diagnostic equipment and software to evaluate your machines linear and non-linear error. For example, a Renishaw QC20-W wireless ballbar system is used to perform dynamic circular tests of numerically controlled machine tools that analyze your machine’s performance in accordance with ISO standards. Ballbar data is recorded using the ISO 230-4: 1996 – Part 4: Circular tests for numerically controlled machine tools standard. This standard specifies methods of testing and evaluating the bi-directional circular deviation, the mean bidirectional radial deviation, the circular deviation and the radial deviation of circular paths that are produced by the simultaneous movements of two linear axes. Our technicians follow strict ISO standards and procedures to calibrate your machine to meet OEM specifications.If you are experiencing issues with your machine regarding squareness, non-repeatability, etc, I encourage you to contact IMS for a full metrology evaluation.
   
ENGINEERING

Our mechanical and electrical precision engineer’s are able to design conventional to ultra-precision custom machines and subsystems from the ground up.  We use advanced solid modeling software for mechanical design and part detailing, and evaluate and optimize those designs using state-of-the-art structural and thermal finite-element analysis software.  Examples of engineering analysis include kinematic coupling design and optimization, Hertz contact stress analysis, hydrostatic bearing design, hexapod design and optimization, flexure system design, error budgeting, gear design, motor performance analysis and more.

RETROFITS
CNC Systems
For much less than the cost of a new machine, IMS can retrofit your existing machine with a new control system.  After a thorough assessment of your machine, IMS will determine its eligibility for a control retrofit.  If eligible, IMS will work with you to select the right control system to meet your budgetary and technical requirements.
